Speed limit changes will be implemented on Clothiers Creek Road from Condong to Bogangar and on Chinderah local roads in the next week, weather permitting.
Nationals Member for Tweed Geoff Provest said Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) has carried out a review as part of the NSW audit of speed zones.
“The review assessed a number of factors including road environment, traffic characteristics and crash data,” Mr Provest said.
“The 70km/h speed limit on Clothiers Creek Road through the village of Nunderi will be reduced to 60km/h.
“The 60km/h speed limit on Clothiers Creek Road at the Pacific Highway interchange will be reduced for 200 metres and the adjoining 80km/h will be extended by 200 metres.
“The existing 60km/h speed limit on Waugh and Phillip Streets and Wommin Bay Road will be reduced to 50km/h.
“The 60km/h speed limit on Chinderah Bay Drive will be reduced to 50km/h from 20 metres south of Chinderah Road to 50 metres north of Waugh Street.
“The changes will provide a more consistent approach to speed limits along these roads and better reflect road conditions including local village development and nearby land use,” Mr Provest said.
Warning signs will be in place to advise motorists of the changes and will remain for at least a week after the new speed limit signs have been installed.
