Kite flying takes off

Some of the colour and action of this year's Kite festival.

THE popular Kirra Kite Festival returned from a one-year hiatus, bigger and better than ever.
Despite rain and windy conditions, more than 10,000 turned up to take part in this year’s events.
While the wind was a challenge at first for flyers — not enough of– it came good allowing nearly full days program to be held before it rained at 4pm.
The only casualty of the wild weather was the inaugural Sunset Film Jam on the Friday night.
The event had to be postponed and will be held at Rabbit and Cocoon at Miami from 6pm (NSW) on Friday night.
