THE Tweed River High, girls touch football team has taken out the All Schools NSW State Year Seven and Eight Championships held at Bathurst last week.
The girls were undefeated in their pool and went through to beat Tomaree High in the semi-finals.
In the grand final they played Kildare Catholic College Wagga Wagga and with a minute to go they scored a runaway try giving them a 3-2 win and the All Schools NSW State Championship title.
“This title wouldn’t of been possible without our teacher, coach and mentor Chris Swaddle,” team captain Olivia Attenborough-Doyle said.
“Mr Swaddle gave up his personal time after school and in the school holidays to prepare us for the finals.
“A group of us girls have also been playing in the South Tweed, Murwillumbah and Gold Coast comps to further develop our skills.”
