The Friends of the Tweed River Art Gallery are hosting a High Tea to celebrate the life and work of the late artist Bessie Gibson.
In collaboration with family members and generous loans of artwork from private collections, the Tweed River Art Gallery has curated a stunning exhibition titled ‘Bessie Gibson: an artistic life’.
The exhibition explores the work of this intriguing artist who was a regular exhibitor at the Royal Academy in London and the Paris Salon.
In keeping with the period of the artist’s working life during the early 1900s, the High Tea hosted by the Friends of the Gallery, offers a wonderful opportunity to enjoy a traditional afternoon tea.
The Friends’ event, ‘An artist in the family: memories of Bessie Gibson’ also provides an opportunity to meet members of Bessie’s family.
Bessie’s great-nephew Bob Gibson will share reminiscences of his great-aunt and speak of the importance of her artworks to the family, while Gallery Director Susi Muddiman will speak about the artist’s practice and informally interview Mr Gibson.
