Coalition promise power price cuts

After years of massive increases in power prices, Tweed families
and pensioners will be offered relief if the Coalition wins the March 26 state election, according to Tweed Nationals MP Geoff Provest.
“Power price rises is the issues which generates the most calls to my office from concerned constituents,” Mr Provest said.
“Seniors can’t understand why their bills keep going up, when they have cut down their usage and made their homes more energy efficient.
“Under the Liberal and National plan, most Tweed seniors will get a $200 rebate as early as July 1 this year,” Mr Provest said.
“To qualify they have to hold one of three concession cards – the Commonwealth Health Care Card, the Pensioner Concession Card or, in the case of veterans, the Gold Card.
“In the following year, families who claim Family Tax Benefit will also be eligible for rebate of
$75.
“Both rebates will increase in the following years and they can be combined, with the maximum discount being $250.”
Mr Provest said that unlike Labor’s promise, the Coalition’s commitment was affordable – and therefore believable and deliverable – because it targeted those most in need of help.
