A crowd of 110 fashion-lovers were treated to an art show with a difference at the Wearable Art Fashion Parade at Mavis’ Kitchen last week [Thursday, June 16].
Tweed Valley felters Linda Clark, Christine Burgess, Helen McEwin and Michelle McQuay presented a stunning collection of kaleidoscopic coats, quirky caps and colourful shirts, skirts, vests and waistcoats, with Mavis’ Kitchen owners Peter Clarke and Charlie Ebell doing double-duty as event hosts and male models.
“We were absolutely delighted with the turnout – a full house, with another 50 people on the waiting list,” said Peter Clarke. “Guests came from the Gold Coast and all over the Tweed Valley and were truly impressed by the fabulous designs our artists had put together for the show.”
The fashion fest was also a boon for the NSW Wildlife Information, Rescue and Education Service (WIRES) who will benefit from a $500 donation raised from the day’s raffles.
The felting artists will now start working on their Spring collection for their next fashion parade at Mavis’ Kitchen on September 22.
