THERE are some very keen green thumbs at Tweed Heads South Public School – and they are getting keener and greener thanks to the local garden club.
The school’s gardening program, run by teacher Merryl Toop, has come up trumps in this year’s Banora Garden Club gardening competition.
“We had 20 categories in this year’s competition,” club president Maria Harry said.
“One of the categories was a student project. We had entries from St James, St Josephs and South Tweed.
“It was a very close thing.”
The category was judged on the work the students have done and their involvement.
