Tweed Shire Council is set to have an annual display of work from local HSC students at the Tweed River Art Gallery.
Mayor Barry Longland proposed the exhibition and the motion was adopted by the other councillors at last week’s Council meeting.
Cr Longland said the event would involve the top Art students from the eight local high schools and TAFE College each year.
He said the Tweed River Art Gallery director would now be working with local schools and art teach to make it happen.
“It will be an annual display of the work of the top local HSC students,” he said.
Cr Longland said he decided to put forward the proposal after speaking to local art teachers.
Up until now there had been no substantial exhibition for just local HSC students in the Tweed area.
