Entertainer and business-woman Jayne Henry is the new president of the fast-growing Kingscliff and District Business Chamber following the group’s annual general meeting last week.
Ms Henry said the chamber was an important voice for local business people and she said she was looking forward to its continued growth.
“I believe the Business Chamber is a strong united business voice that has the ability to achieve great things for our business community, as well as the community at large,” she said.
“We would like for businesses that are not in our Chamber to take advantage of our special offer for the month of September and become involved in what I believe is a proactive and productive group. We want to get things done! And we will.
“For myself, I see the future for Kingscliff as brilliant. We live in the most beautiful seaside village within a Shire of uncapped potential. Kingscliff has a sophisticated and impressive dining and shopping district and, by supporting our local businesses, we have the opportunity to drive life back into our CBD and put our town back on the map as a food and tourist destination at the hub of an environmental wonder of the world – that being the Tweed in the mighty Northern Rivers.”
The group currently has more than 90 members and is rapidly approaching 100, with the executive committee currently holding a membership drive for September .
Out-going president Dennis Eyre, who moves to secretary in the new committee, said a large number of business people turned out for the AGM to vote for the new executive.
“There was an unprec-edented need to use Ballot Papers to elect the members of the Executive, due to the increased interest and enthusiasm of members wishing to guide the growing momentum of the Kingscliff Business Community,” he said.
“It is a sign of the confidence of business owners in the progressive direction of business in Kingscliff and surrounding districts.”
