THE Tweed Coast is full of talented people as the exhibition of works from Kingscliff Arts demonstrated on Saturday night.
More than 200 people squeezed around the art gallery at Kirra Community Centre to admire the talent of students from the arts school.
Paintings, drawings and watercolours of the magnificent Australian coast adorned the walls for the schools first ever exhibition – Coasts.
The evening was arranged by school owner Gillian Grove, recent winner of the BEAT award for Best Creative Industry in the Tweed in 2013.
It was officially opened by artist and television personality Graeme Stevenson.
“The display was clear evidence of the inspiration students had gained from their teachers,” he said.
He encouraged all interested in art to follow their passion and add a bit of colour to their life.
The night was filled with the camaraderie of the students celebrating their achievements with several artists experiencing the thrill of selling their first piece. Background music was provided by local 17-year-old Murwillumbah local Milan Martin.
The exhibition focuses on coastal themes and will remain open daily until 5 December at the Kirra Community Centre, 9am-4pm (QLD time) corner of Powell and Garrick Street Kirra.
