IT is the dying days of the 2013 ratings period and our eyes are already turning from television drama to the sporting field.
Old favourite soaps, comedies and reality programs are making way for summer viewing and sport, sport and more sport.
Already we have turned to the summer cricket coverage and this weekend Seven/Prime7 turns its attention to golf bringing all the latest from the Australian Open in Sydney.
And like the Ashes, the golf is really worth watching from an Australian point of view (finally).
Reigning US Masters champion Adam Scott is standing on the cusp of glory – and the Australian only requires victory at this weekend’s Australian Open if he is to secure the coveted Australian triple crown.
Having already claimed victories at the PGA and the Australian Masters – the two other events that make up the triple crown – Scott is one win away from securing the honour at Royal Sydney Golf Club this weekend.
If successful in his bid, the 33-year-old will become just the second player in history to win the triple crown. Robert Allenby achieved the feat in 2005.
Scott will be joined in the field by two-time major champion Irishman Rory McIlroy, World Cup golf winner Jason Day, US Open winner Geoff Ogilvy, and former Australian Open winners Greg Chalmers, John Senden, and Aaron Baddeley.
Prime7’s coverage will be hosted by Sandy Roberts and Peter Donegan, with expert commentary from Ian Baker-Finch, Wayne Grady, Grant Dodd and ‘Whispering’ Pat Welsh. Jarrod Lyle will also take on a special guest commentary role on Thursday and Friday.
Live coverage starts nationally at noon AEDT Thursday and continues Friday, Saturday and Sunday from noon AEDT on Prime7.
