A record number of nominations have been received for this year’s Wonders of Women event run by the Tweed Valley Women’s Service.
The event recognises the work of women throughout the Tweed in a wide range of categories and will be held at the Kingscliff Beach Bowls Club on Thursday, March 7 from 4-6pm.
“This year’s event will have a carnivale theme and we are encouraging everyone to dress up and get into the spirit,” WOW committee member Carol Graham said.
“This is our sixth annual event and we hold it in conjunction with International Women’s Day.
“We have been very pleased with the number of nominations and the independent judge has praised the high calibre of entries this year.”
The awards cover everything from Emergency Service, Volunteers, Aged Care, Creative Arts, Pre-Teen (6-12) Young Woman, Health and Disabilty, Youth and Children’s Services, Indigenous and other cultures, services/ groups/teams, environment and Woman of the Year.
