When Tweed’s Lisa Sutton heard what day the royal couple had chosen for their wedding, she couldn’t help but laugh.
“My mum rang me and told me,” she giggled.
“I said everyone will be able to remember our anniversary now.
“Colin might even be able to remember,” she joked.
“It’s pretty exciting.”
You see, Lisa and husband Colin, who run Sutto’s Floor Coverings in Tweed Heads, were married on April 29 – just like Wills and Kate will be.
And it seems the date (if you believe in that kind of thing) has been a good one for the local pair.
Life couldn’t be better for the Suttons who have five children and a new young grand-daughter and will celebrate 22 years of marriage the day the young royal couple say “I do”.
“I think it’s a nice time of year to get married,” she said.
“Doesn’t matter what side of the world you are on, it’s nice and green and warm.”
So does she have any advice for the young couple who will now share their anniversary with the Suttons?
“Take every day as it comes!” she said.
So will Colin and Lisa be watching the royal wedding?
“No, I’ve got to work,” she said.
“But I will be listening on the radio and I’m sure they’ll repeat it some time.”
And how will they spend their anniversary, if not in front of the TV watching the Windsor Wedding?
“Hopefully we’ll go out to dinner,” Lisa laughed.
“Put it this way, I’m not cooking.”
