Next step for GP super clinic

The proposed Tweed GP Super Clinic moved closer following the signing of a $7 million agreement with local consortium Ausjendia Pty Ltd. Ausjendia is made up of Tweed Heads doctors Diane Blanckensee, Austin Stern and Jennifer Soden.
Acting Minister for Health and Ageing, Mark Butler, welcomed the signing of the $7 million agreement as a welcome boost to health care in Tweed Heads. “This GP Super Clinic will deliver better access to health services for locals in a single, convenient location,” he said.
It is anticipated that the Tweed Heads clinic will provide general practice and services including psychology, physiotherapy, diabetes education, dietetics and podiatry, with an emphasis on chronic disease care and preventive activities.
It is also expected to offer mental health care nursing, exercise physiology, occupational therapy, continence physiotherapy, asthma education, dental, pathology, a social worker and an Aboriginal health worker.
Federal Member for Richmond Justine Elliott said GP Super Clinics are improving access to health services across the country.
“This clinic will also train our future health workforce by having a focus on education and training to boost the primary healthcare workforce in Tweed Heads.”
