Kingscliff ratepayers meet

Kingscliff Ratepayers and Progress Association (KRPA) monthly meeting will be held on Monday night, June 4, from 7pm at the Kingscliff Public School Library (Orient St entrance)
Michael McNamara from Lock the Gate – Tweed will present information on the current situation of mining exploration in our area and how coal seam gas mining may damage waterways and aquifers.
“Protecting the Tweed from coal seam gas (csg) is about a community-based strategy to help keep csg out of our area,” Michael McNamara said.
“Many community members are concerned about csg coming here but are unsure what we can do about it, either as individuals, or as a community. Come along to find out about how you can make a difference here in your local community through the csg-free communities strategy.”
The meeting will also discuss plans to convert Marine Parade to one-way traffic from Turnock Street, south to the fig tree roundabout at Seaview Street. Tweed Council engineer Warren Boyd recently briefed the association on current proposals which are now available for public comment. The association is concerned how such a change would affect Kingscliff businesses, traffic, parking and pedestrians?
The Kingscliff Rate-payers and Progress Association meets at 7pm on the first Monday evening of every month in the library of the Kingscliff Primary School on Orient Street.
Members of the public from the Kingscliff com-munity are encouraged to attend.
“The association gets involved in the current questions facing our community and helps to shape its future,” KRPA president Kim Holdom said.
“We welcome new members who can join the association on the night for a modest fee and participate in the constructive development of our community.”
