An Italian feast

From the best known sing-alongs like Funiculi Funicula, to the most stirring operatic arias such as Nessun Dorma, the Italian culture is responsible for some of the world’s most memorable melodies.
In “Italian Songbook”, Tweed Coaster Liza Beamish and Gold Coaster Lachlan Baker explore the very best of Italian music from every genre.
They will feature all the Italian songs we grew up hearing in our youth, like O Solo Mio, and Mama; Favourites from Opera such as the Drinking Song from La Traviata and the beautiful Chorus of the Hebrew slaves from Nabucco; the best of Italian influenced pop from the fifties and sixties such as That’s Amore, Che Sera Sera, Volare, to name but a few; and the best known modern ballads sung by artists like Il Divo, Kathryn Jenkins and Josh Groban – moving songs like You Raise Me Up, Everything I DO I Do it for You, and Time to Say Goodbye.
In their brand new show “Italian Songbook”, Liza and Lachlan will make you laugh, and stir your soul. Fill your morning with “La Dolce Vita” and join the Festa!
Liza’s career highlights have included performing and understudying the role of Carlotta with the original cast of Phantom of the Opera in Melbourne; performing as a soloist with Opera Australia, Opera Queensland, and Ozopera (Opera Australia’s touring company); Touring England with a production of Magic Flute as the Queen of the Night; and performing the role of Zerlina in Mozart’s Don Giovanni in the Czech Republic.
Last year, Liza performed at one of the world’s largest music festivals in North Korea, where attendance is by invitation only. She was one of a handful of the performers who received a trophy at the event, and was asked to participate in the prestigious “Selected Concert”, which was televised nationally (in Korea).
Liza is currently living in the Tweed Coast area, where she has found herself to be much in demand as a soloist all along the Eastern coast of Australia. The venues in which she now performs range from clubs, entertainment venues and hotels such as Pallazo Versace, to huge open air events eg, “Opera in the Park” at Broadbeach to an audience of 10,000. She is a frequent soloist with a number of orchestras including Gold Coast Symphony Orchestra, Northern Rivers Symphony Orchestra and Queensland Pops Orchestra.
Lachlan’s career high-ights include singing at the great hall at Canberra; performing Jean Valjean in Les Miserables at the Gold Coast Arts centre; supporting Julie Anthony in her one-woman show and performing in the cast of Simon Gallaher’s production of “The Merry Widow” at the Qld Performing Arts Centre in Brisbane. He was an instant hit impersonating Pavarotti in Channel 9’s Starstruck – making it all the way to the finals.
Lachlan’s singing engage-ments have taken him to many parts of the globe including USA, Germany, Japan, Malaysia and Taiwan and to every state and territory in Australia.
Lachlan now lives and performs on the Gold Coast where he can be regularly seen at prestigious venues such as Palazzo Versace, Sheraton Mirage, Royal Pines resort, Gold Coast Convention Centre and Conrad Jupiter’s. He has performed many times in front of audiences larger than 10,000 at outdoor venues such as Kurrawa Park Broadbeach, and Paradise Point.
