Tiki spreads the word of light

On March 11, 2011, multi-platinum award winning New Zealand artist Tiki released his new album ‘In The Word Of Light’ through Stop Start/EMI
Music Austraila.
To support the release in Australia, he will tour the East Coast in May.
Tiki Taane is considered a pioneer in the NZ music scene, with a career spanning nearly 15 years.
Rising to prominence as a member of leading New Zealand band Salmonella Dub, Tiki progressed from sound engineer to fully fledged front man, penning some of the band’s biggest hits, including ‘Love Your Ways’ and ‘For the Love of It’ amongst others.
In January 2007, Tiki left Salmonella Dub to pursue a solo career, resulting in the release  of his debut album – ‘Past, Present, Future’.
Spearheaded by the number  one single ‘Always on My Mind’ the album went on to sell over double platinum sales in New Zealand, alongside picking up a swag of awards including “No 1 Release 2007 Amplifier Award” and “Radio Airplay Artist of the Year Vodafone New
Zealand Music Awards 2009”.
‘Always on My Mind’ broke two all-time NZ records – spending 54 weeks inside the NZ singles chart and being the first-ever digital single to achieve platinum sales.
Although affectionately known as ‘King of the Dubs’ in NZ, Tiki’s musical influences and appeal are broad, traversing from dubstep, traditional style reggae, old school drum and bass and hip-hop, to more contemporary
pop/rock sensibilities.
Tiki is no stranger to Australia’s shores. With a decade of touring with Salmonella Dub and recently as a solo artist under his belt, he has been on the bills of some of Australia’s best loved festivals: Big Day Out, Homebake and Reggaetown.
