COMBINE a little dub-ska music with a touch of circus-cabaret and theatrical quirkiness and you are in for an interesting evening.
Born out of the Victorian Otways in 2004, Spyndrift is a quirky quintet with vaudevillian tendencies and they are bringing that unique style to the uniquely different Sheoak Shack at Fingal – it’s a match made in heaven.
Spyndrift’s dynamic musical performance is complete with eccentric characters in lavish costumery, vintage-inspired props and shadow screen, which illuminate dancer and frontwoman Elle Wood’s enchanting and playful antics with twirling parasols and Parisian vaudevillian hijinks.
Spyndrift fire the audience’s imagination with their ebullient style, original music and song crafting.
They have a growing following after five consecutive years at Apollo Bay Music Festival, sell-out shows at The Butterfly Club, Folk Rhythm and Life Festival, and Rainbow Serpent Festival.
Fingal is part of their 2013 east coast tour for this band – beloved by festival-goers everywhere.
In 2010 they took out top prize at Vic Hunt Memorial Music Awards at the Sleepy Hollow Blues Club, Geelong.
Their film clips Like a Kyte and Pandora’s Box (about to be released) illustrate the theatrical and sometimes suggestive nature of this act and what you can expect to see in their show.
Spyndrifts albums ‘Soundswell’ and ‘Positive Charge’ exhibit a strong connection with the natural world. The songs reveal a passion that is diverse and extraordinary, radical yet reflective.
