THERE have been documentaries about it, clubs for it, Eddie Vedder even recorded an album on one – there is no doubt the ukulele is one of the instruments of the moment!
And just to prove no place is safe for uke, tiny Tumbulgum on the Tweed River is now in the girps of “uke fever”.
Locals and visitors have a chance to enjoy a fun family-friendly night out at the new “uke nights” held at Tumbulgum Tavern.
By popular demand Stukulele from Mullumbimby has organised the event and encourages everyone to bring their ukulele along, just come and sing-along or simply enjoy the atmosphere and entertainment.
Stu says the nights are “an informal get-together for enthusiasts” and although some pointers may be given it is not a formal lesson.
“Our focus is on fun,” he said. “A real community sing-along.
“We don’t want anyone to feel self-conscious about their ability – just get amongst it.
“And for those who’d like to get some practice in before the jam night, you can see the book of songs posted online.”
