Members of CanAssist Uralla are getting ready to host their major fundraiser for the year — a Christmas in July High Tea and Fashion Parade. The rum balls are being rolled, the halls will be decked and the fa-la-la-la-la’s will be fine in time for the July 21 event of an afternoon of yuletide fun.
Joining the CanAssist Uralla team will be Concepts of Armidale and the Uralla Wool Room, with fashions straight from their shops for an exciting parade featuring local models.
President of CanAssist Uralla, Kaye Clack, said the money raised is put aside to help people living with cancer in the Uralla Shire Council.
“CanAssist has branches throughout NSW, mainly in regional areas, and members work throughout the year to raise money which is then given directly to people living with cancer,” Mrs Clack said.
“The money isn’t so much a donation but more like a helping hand. We help with outstanding bills, maybe travel or pharmacy costs, things like that.
“This region is well served by CanAssist, with branches in Uralla, Armidale, Guyra and Tamworth. Each branch also supports the Jean Colvin Cancer Centre to provide affordable accommodation to rural people having cancer treatment in Sydney.
“The Christmas in July event is our major fundraiser at Uralla and everyone is welcome to attend, it should be an enjoyable afternoon.”
The event will be held from 2pm on Saturday, July 21, 2012. Tickets are just $15 and can be purchased from the Uralla Pharmacy, The Uralla Wool Room, Concepts of Armidale in Beardy Mall or by phoning Mrs Clack on 0402 540 512 or 6778 4690.
