Elvis to the Max

By TANIA PHILLIPS

FORGET everything you’ve ever read about and Memphis – Elvis is from Detroit.
Okay not THE Elvis but one of the most successful and popular Elvis impersonators, the one and only Max Pellicano.
Max is Elvis To The Max and he’s on his way back to Twin Towns this week with a 15 piece orchestra and his full-on Elvis Show.
Max Pellicano has been a professional actor and entertainer since 1974 after graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Cal State University, Hayward, in Dramatic Arts. Since that time he has appeared on stage, in motion pictures, television and countless commercials and most recently on So You Think You can Dance with his daughter who was competing in the most recent American series (it’s worth a You Tube believe me).
Max first brought his Elvis impersonation to life on stage in a summer stock production of, “Bye Bye Birdie” in which he portrayed an Elvis-type character, Conrad Birdie back in 1974. He hasn’t looked back since and it definitely qualifies him as one of the first Elvis impersonators in the world.
And he’s still going.
He’s been to Australia as many times as Elvis went to Hawaii and he’s made a lot of friends and fans over the years.
This year he has something a little special – a 15-piece orchestra allowing people a chance to hear the songs of the King at their very best.
According to Max – Elvis Aaron Presley was one of the most important figures of the 20th century pop culture.
There are lots of Elvis impersonators around, but there is something special about Max Pellicano.
The costumes worn by Max Pellicano are exact replicas made by Elvis’s personal tailor Bill Bellow.
