Launch of 2012 arts program

The Armidale School’s Hoskins Centre will launch the 2012 season this Sunday, November 20 that will include the creation and performance of an original work by the Sydney Theatre Company and a host of other events by groups including Armidale Drama and Musical Society, Australian Decorative and Fine Arts Society (Armidale branch), as well as high quality touring productions from Queensland, Western Australia and Sydney’s Zeal Theatre, the company behind the sell-out season of’ ‘Burnt’ at Hoskins earlier this year.
Centre manager Emma Buzo said the season reflects a mix of vibrant local arts culture with touring productions from around Australia.
“This will offer inspiration for our own arts practitioners and introduce audiences to new experiences,” she said.
“The season will cater for a variety of tastes with its lineup of theatre, music, art and lectures suitable for young children through to senior citizens.”
Perhaps the most exciting cultural event next year will be the STC’s ‘New England Project’, to be developed by professionals with young people from all schools in the city.
“The STC is Australia’s foremost theatre company and the Hoskins Centre has been working with their Education Program to create a project that epitomises the centre’s community focus,” Ms Buzo said.
The launch event, to be held on Sunday, November 20 at 4pm, will include live music from local professional musicians, special guests from the Sydney Theatre Company plus a sneak peek at amazing young talent that will be on show at Hoskins in 2012.
