Northern Rivers Orchestra heads to Paris

By TANIA PHILLIPS

BRING out the opera glasses and dust off those pearls – the Northern Rivers Symphony Orchestra is back in town.
Okay, you probably don’t need to do either of things to enjoy an afternoon of culture and classics with NRSO at the Tweed Civic Centre but it still promises to be a great afternoon for music lovers.
Led by guest conductor Spiros Rantos, the NRSO’s latest concert is “American in Paris”.
The afternoon will feature a well-known favourite “New World Symphony” by Antonin Dvorak as well as George Bizet – Carmen Suite no. 1, Leo Delibes – Excerpts from Coppelia Suite, Antonin Dvorak – Humoreske and for all those Gene Kelly fans – George Gershwin’s An American in Paris.
Guest conductor, Spiros Rantos is an internationally renowned violinist, music director, recording artist and conductor. He promises to delight audiences with a selection of favourite classics, showcasing stories about the old world, the new world, a European in America, and an American in Paris.
