Australia’s premier theatre company, Bell Shakespeare, will bring the bard to the bush with a special adaptation of Romeo and Juliet at Tyalgum Village Hall on Friday, April 26.

Such Sweet Sorrow

“Tyalgum Hall will provide the perfect setting for an intimate theatre experience and it will be a rare privilege for Tweed audiences to enjoy a world-class production from a company that is more used to performing at the Sydney Opera House,” said Solar Chapel from Tyalgum-based production company, Hearts Aflame Productions.

“While our productions are certainly putting Tyalgum on the map as a unique location for top class entertainment, they are also putting us on the map as a tourist destination, bringing significant economic benefits to the town and the rest of the Valley,” said Mr Chapel

Hearts Aflame Productions will stage two performances of Bell Shakespeare’s Such Sweet Sorrow on April 26: A matinee at 11am which will undoubtedly attract students currently studying Romeo and Juliet as their school text; and an evening performance at 7pm.

is a one-hour production showcasing the highs and lows of one of the world’s greatest love stories, with all the roles played by four leading actors using contemporary stylized costuming, clever props and background banners to set the scenes.
