Eli Wolfe is a curious and creative soul with a fascination for science, history and philosophy and a penchant for capturing the beauty and struggles of life and humanity through music and art. To celebrate the launch of his new single ‘We all started something’, he has embarked on a national tour that will see him perform at the Armidale Club this Friday, November 23.
Writing through observ-ation and sometimes creating imaginative narrative, he also brings insightful reflection on topics like social evolution and draws upon the rawest of human emotions like love, loss and courage. Eli has the ability to entice the listener into the very present moment–a rare thing in a world of never ending distractions.
A self-taught left-handed guitarist, Eli developed a highly original and acclaimed style that evolved over time. Respected music e-mag, The AU Review, commented on Eli’s performance at Canadian Music Festival 2012 saying, “outstanding…his roots-centric guitar playing stupidly impressive, especially when he ripped out an epic instrumental number, props”. Playing on six and 12-string and classical guitars, Eli’s music ranges from tender melodies to phenomenal instrumentals.
Based in Sydney, Eli’s childhood was spent travel-ling this vast country, from the outback in Western Australia to the coastal regions of the eastern states, as his father followed the work of his trade. It was a way of life that led to a natural friendliness towards people and an understanding of the many choices people can make in living out their lives. It also meant he was well equipped for life on the road.
We all started something — it’s a universal truth that inspires reflection. It’s also the title of Eli Wolfe’s brand new single, which he penned in Los Angeles, then recorded in Sydney with ARIA-nominated pro-ducer Lachlan Mitchell (The Jezabels), as part of his most exciting musical year to date.
The new single showcases Eli as a truly diverse artist, blending his renowned heartfelt vocals with driving grooves to make for a cosmic, high-spirited and epic sound. Eli says the song was inspired by the motivations that drive us to action and the outcomes.
