Guyra Shire Council are hosting “Movies in the Park, 2012” at the Guyra showground, Dutton Parade on January 27 with Zookeeper (PG) and January 28 with Cars 2 (PG).
A community fireworks display by local pyrotechnic Fr Anthony Koppman, affectionately known as “Holy Smoke’, will take place after the screening of Cars 2 on Saturday night, in Guyra.
Entry and parking is FREE, with catering provided at both venues. Locals and visitors alike are most welcome to attend and need only bring a chair or rug to witness an outdoor movie experience like no other.
Movies will commence around 8pm and screened on a 7.5m high by 6.5m wide inflatable outdoor movie screen.
“The movies in the park has laid the platform for Guyra Shire to host and build annual outdoor movie experiences that will continue to not only promote Guyra Shire but also the New England region and provide a real family experience to all members of the public for free,” said David Cushway, General Manager of Guyra Shire Council.
“This community event is the only one of its kind provided by a local Council anywhere in the northwest region and possibly even the state”.
The change of venue for the Guyra screening to the showground is to compliment the inaugural Northern Tablelands Military Vehicle Rally on January 27, 28 and 29 which is part of the ever expanding annual Guyra Lamb and Potato Festival held in Guyra.
