On Sunday, July 29 at 12.30pm, the unique sound of a horn duo (Accord pour Deux) will be heard at the Uniting Church for this month’s Market Sunday concert. Gergely and Lisa Malyusz have performed in Europe and Australia and, until recently, taught brass at NECOM.
Accord pour Deux will challenge the audience by performing an entirely contemporary program comprising works premiered at the recent Bellingen Music Festival, including “No-Zart” by local composer and UNE lecturer Jenny Game-Lopata.
Other works to be performed are “Accord Perdu” by the late twentieth century French composer Gérard Grisey; “Yellowed Melodies”, which was also composed in 2012 for the ensemble by Austrian composer Anselm Schaufler and a handful of Violin duets by Béla Bartok.
Entrance is free, though donations are encouraged. This is a great opportunity to hear some unusual and intriguing music.
