Steady stream of laughter for Currumbin

In 1968, Steady Eddy was beamed down from the planet Vegemite to interact with the general population of Earth and now he is beaming into Currumbin.
He soon found things were so much different from his home planet. Not only were humans physically inept, he also discovered they were very condescending to aliens. They tried to lock him away in a Sheltered Workshop but they didn’t take into account his willpower and thirst for life. He rebelled against the system by going out into the real world and becoming a stand up comic!
Steady Eddy worked at Sydney’s Comedy Store in January 1991. He first appeared on The Midday Show with Ray Martin in March 1992 – there followed by over a dozen appearances. He was picked up by Steve Vizard and when he appeared on Tonight Live, Steady stole the show and ousted Steve from the host’s hot seat. He followed this by a further nine appearances.
Steady embarked on his first tour in August/September 1992 playing to capacity houses around NSW and Victoria. He then went a step further to a National Tour of Australia in April 1993, including a week in New Zealand of which was sold out before he’d even arrived!! This was also the year Steady launched his new comedy album “Ready Steady Go!!”
Then 1994 saw Steady pick up the Aria Award for “Best Comedy Album”.
Steady has won the prestigious Mo Awards for New Wave Comedy Performer of the Year (twice) and The Comedy Performer of the Year.
He has performed at the Montreal – Just For Laughs Comedy Festival, the Austrian Comedy Festival in Vienna, the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and the LA Comedy Store. He tours nationally regularly and continues to be the (rather wobbly) benchmark for Australian comedy.
He is joined by support act S Sorrensen, a comedian in the throes of mid-life crisis. He is appalled at what he sees in the world. But when he expresses his absolute horror about climate change, war for oil, and brushcutters, others laugh. A lot. In fact, audiences all over this wide brown land have laughed at S’s view of the world – both in his solo stand-up shows and in the two-handed Glover & Sorrensen shows (with Alan Glover). S regularly leaves the safety of his shack near Nimbin, swapping his sarong for jeans, to do his therapy at festivals, clubs, pubs and dining tables from Cairns to Hobart. He has also appeared on telly and radio. (But don’t tell anyone…) And when it’s raining and too wet to travel, he’s a writer and journalist.
Comedian Mandy Nolan, the woman who Sydney Morning Herald’s senior reviewer called “The best comedic columinist in the country” is the MC, bringing a woman’s touch to centre stage, ensuring that everyone gets a laugh with her, about her and on her!
Enjoy a world class night of stand up comedy at the Currumbin RSL.
