Starring one of Australia’s top actors, John Jarratt (Picnic At Hanging Rock, Wolf Creek, Better Homes & Gardens, McLeod’s Daughter’s), The Sum of Us is a bitter-sweet comedy that revolves around the devoted and loving relationship between widower, Harry, his homosexual son, Jeff, and their individual searches for a partner.
“This play originally had Steve Bisley slated to play the main role but, due to illness, Steve was unable to commit to this productio. But the show is certainly in safe hands with top aussie actor, John Jarrett,” Capitol Theatre Director, Peter Ross said.
The play was the basis of the 1994 AFI award winning film which starred Russell Crowe and Jack Thompson. The play also had a successful New York run in 1990.
This compelling and often funny play deals with a father’s unconditional love for his son. A story of love, joy and identity; but most of all, this parable is a celebration of family.
The Sum of Us is presented by New England Country Living and is event 17 in the Capitol Theatre’s Tamworth Lifestyle Village Season 2012. Friday, September 2 at 8pm and Saturday, September 3 at 2pm and 8pm.
