Rotary Club exhibition shows off local talent

Plans are in place for the grand opening of the 35th annual Rotary Club of Uralla Arts Exhibition, Friday evening March 30 at the Memorial Hall, Salisbury Street, Uralla.
Uralla Memorial Hall doors open at 6.30pm for a 7.00pm start on Friday, March 30 when Regional Arts Coordinator, Arts North West, Ms Jane Kreis will officially open the exhibition.
The exhibition will then open daily from Saturday, March 31 to Sunday, April 8 from 10.00am to 4.00pm.
The club expects to display a record 350 paintings received from artists across NSW and southern Queensland.
Guest artists include Helen Phillips of Uralla, and Aboriginal artist Brian Irving from Guyra.
Arts Exhibition coordinator, Linda Bell said there had been overwhelming financial support from the Uralla business community.
Sponsors include Uralla Bowling Club, New England Mutual, Uralla Shire Council, Jobs Australia, Bill and Rae Andrews, John and Caroline Mitchell, Graham and Bev Carlon, Bob and Marie Wallace, Uralla Neighbourhood Centre, and Uralla business community.
Local wineries, Merilba Estate Wines, and WhyWorry Wines will provide wines for raffle and Friday evening’s official opening function.
Delicious finger food will be served by Uralla Central School hospitality students.
The evening will cost $30 per couple and $20 single.
Potential buyers from throughout New England, North West, Hunter Valley, and Mid-North Coast regularly visit Uralla when the exhibition is open.

Raffles will be held throughout the exhibition. Prizes include an oil painting to the value of $500, a dinner voucher, grocery and meat vouchers.
