Dance diva Taylor Dayne and friends

Dance Pop Diva, multi-platinum recording artist and world-class performer Taylor Dayne is back in Australia for the first time in six years.
The woman who had us dancing to songs including ‘Tell It to My Heart’, ‘With Every Beat of My Heart’, ‘Prove Your Love’, ‘I’ll Always Love You’, ‘I’ll Be Your Shelter’, ‘Don’t Rush Me’, ‘Heart of Stone’ and ‘Love Will Lead You Back’ will play Twin Towns on Thursday night.
And she will be bringing a bit of a Gold Coast flavour with her.
Backing singers for the tour are none other than well-known local Tweed Coaster Karen Oliver and Gold Coaster Cat Deller.
Cat is a Gold Coast musician who writes and plays her own music, while former Kingscliff singer Karen Oliver is well-known in Gold Coast Tweed theatrical circles.
“This has been just a great opportunity to meet people and learn from a fabulous artist,” Karen and Cat said of the tour which started in Victoria and has taken them along the East Coast of Australia.
New York-born Taylor’s three albums, ‘Tell It To My Heart’, ‘Can’t Fight Fate’, and ‘Soul Dancing’, produced twelve Top 20 singles, among them the chart-topping ‘Love Will Lead You Back’.
‘Tell It To My Heart’ sold more than 75 million albums and singles worldwide, garnering three Grammy nominations along the way. On her new album titled ‘Satisfied’, Taylor Dayne co-wrote four of the songs, including the first single, ‘Beautiful’, as well as ‘Love Chain’, ‘The Fall’ and ‘Hymn’. The album featured top-name producer/writers. There are also marvellously soulful covers of the Red Hot Chili Peppers’ ‘Under the Bridge’, the Rolling Stones’ ‘Fool to Cry’ and Des’ree’s ‘Kissing You’, from the soundtrack of Baz Luhrmann’s William Shakespeare’s Romeo + Juliet, reminiscent of her hit version of Barry White’s ‘Can’t Get Enough of Your Love’.
Taylor Dayne is enjoying a resurgence – not that she ever went away, really.
In fact we are about to see a whole heap more of her very soon, with the star just completing filming on her own television series in May of this year.
But, as much as she has enjoyed her filming for television, she is raring to get back out there and start performing all the old hits, and some new songs from her latest album, for her devoted following.
Of the release of the album, she said, “This is a rebirth for me.
“Call it what you want, but I’m back. We’ve baked the bread. Now it’s time to eat it.”
Special guest will be Andrew Lawson of ‘X Factor’ success.
