Playing it for laughs

The Armidale Drama and Musical Society are now into the final stages of rehearsal for their next production, the hilarious Christmas comedy, ‘A Kick in the Baubles’ by Gordon Steel.
Christmas preparations are well underway at Frank and Jean’s place. The tree’s up, the mince pies are waiting and the Bucks Fizz is in the ice bucket. Jean loves Christmas and has been shopping since July, but Frank is dreading the arrival of his snobbish in-laws who only ever bring a single bottle of wine for the entire festivities and then proceed to drink him out of house and home. Throw in a couple of awful neighbours with a karaoke machine, let the drink flow merrily, and everything is set for the Christmas from Hell!
The cast for the show are Neil Horton, Anne Keoghan, Deborah Hunter, Jim Harrop, Millie Graham, Waine Grafton, Emily Thomas-Moore, Katya Gladiadis and Ewan Paterson. The play is directed by Mark Bourne and produced by David Trestrail, the same production team that brought you the very well-received Blithe Spirit in 2011.
‘A Kick in the Baubles’ is a big, brash, laugh-out-loud comedy so, if you’ve ever dreaded your turn to host the family Christmas dinner, this is the play for you!  There are generous discounts for groups of 10 or more, so why not start Christmas early and get a group of friends or colleagues together for what promises to be a fun night out. Cocktails will be served in the foyer thirty minutes before the start of the show, so come early and enjoy our ‘Kick in the Baubles’ cocktail, created especially for the show.
Tickets are available online at http://www.trybooking.com/ccsd – priced from $18-$23. Please note, some of the cheeky humour in the play may not be suitable for children.
