The Armidale Dumaresq State Emergency Service would like to thank our amazing volunteers for the massive amount of work done throughout this year both locally and out of area assistance for other communities. Teams have responded to calls of help from Wee Waa for major flooding on two separate occasions, sent multiple teams to far North Queensland when it was ravaged by Tropical Cyclone Yasi, to the Blue Mountains after major storms as well as providing assistance to other units within our Namoi region. It is a great honour to serve as part of a group with high community values who are constantly ready, willing and able to drop everything at a call and use the skills they have been trained in to respond to those in need. Well done team!
We had an end of year Christmas and trivia night on December 7 to honour our members who give their time without hesitation. It was a great night of socialising and team bonding which is often played down but in reality is a very important part of working in a team centred organisation. A great night was had by all with everyone going home with prizes, a boosted morale and the knowledge that they are appreciated by their community.
