Parking technology well underway

I recently wrote to John Tooke requesting to view the cost/benefit analysis for the decision to replace a piece of chalk with some very expensive parking technology – around $500,000.
His response was simple – I could, for a fee of $30.00. More transparent local government as promised! The system is a cost only system, there are no financial benefits. ‘This is not a pay for parking system’ said Mr.Gow ‘and if people comply with the time limits, there is no penalty’, and therefore no need for this technology and definitely no return on the investment!
It is good to know that the ADC has ample spare funds for such projects. Pity the money is not spent on projects which will produce benefits for all the community.
Would Mr Tooke care to publicly justify this rather unnecessary lurch into un-needed and low priority technology. Are there no other more deserving projects for the ADC to plough a spare $500,000 into?
