Constant lies

Can we accept that lies are now a means to an end? In fact Karl Marx the founder of a secular ‘religion’ advocated the ‘end justifies the means’.
It must be true, if the process of lies in the ordinary tennis club meeting right up to the highest offices in the land, including the houses of parliament: without trust that is engendered by truthfulness, without chicanery — we will have the best chance of a lack-chaos and therefore concord.
Am I allowed to anguish after seeing a leading political figure exposed for lying and by being given immunity to the expose, laughs and gloats and her former lover does the same as he drives a dark dagger into the accusers?
We have inherited a parliamentary system of government from Britain called the Westminster System; how does that function in terms of the probity and an intellectual mind forged by righteousness, seeking God’s wisdom in decision making? Or do we possess an antipodean version of the Westminster System such that anyone accused of immoral behaviour doesn’t exit a chamber (whether the Upper or Lower Houses) as would occur in the House of Commons.
Is the down-under system we are seeing a reflection of the larrikin culture, with lying and other chicanery as the darkened virtues of those who believe the bounty belongs to the bushwhacker who has the best spin?
And upon making a censure vote: the motion getting up would mean an election, a sure loss and half your colleagues gone — so would lies and chicanery be that bad to preserve tenure?
Do I anguish or say: ‘time has changed you better get used to it’ and consider that the saintly intellect belonged to the Templar Knights of old – because now – the end justifies the means. And don’t talk about self-sacrifice – leave that to the men in Bomber Command 70 years ago or the fighters of other battles – who died or lost a part of themselves and their descendents inherited what it was for the sake of a system called ‘democracy’.
Do I cease anguishing and lose faith in a system my forebears fought for, or maybe join the throng who see winning as the goal and its way of achievement immaterial ?
Do I accept the Prime Minister’s mantra yesterday: ‘we are Labor and that is Labor’s way’.
Vale Democracy Terra Australis.
