Much has been said and written by candidates for the forthcoming Armidale Dumaresq Council election. The simple cheap cost solution; is to rail the scoops collected by contractors and at council tips, placing them on rail cars and transporting them to large available mine holes in the Muswellbrook area which are close to the main line.
This is not a new idea, as a large amount of the Sydney waste is moved daily by Pacific National to near Goulburn and onto the Canberra line where it is shunted onto a siding. Then deposited into a huge hole in the ground, being a disused mine shaft.
We could do the same for all the councils in the New England and what a saving to them, and help the regeneration of the spoilt farming land in the Hunter Valley. Also it will generate methane gas that could be piped to the two big power stations in the area and reduce pollution.
