I have recently been told that the NSW State Government doesn’t think that there is anything wrong with Coal Seam Gas mining and that we should have more of it from Coffs Harbour to the Queensland border. They also say that it is only up to them and that no-one else can stop these mines going ahead.
This is completely disrespectful to the real and genuine concerns of locals who are seriously worried about the impact of these gas mines and the disaster that they could cause. Jobs are wonderful but what is the point of money if we can’t drink the water and if our farmland is destroyed.
If Geoff, and his fellow National representatives on the North coast, really cared, they would stand up to their Liberal masters and really represent us. We know that there is no real scientific evidence to support that Coal Seam Gas mines are safe and, until that can be proved, the State Government should stop each and every one of them.
