What a privilege it was to attend the brilliant evening performance of “A Night at the Opera” at Lazenby Hall. How lucky we are in Armidale!
The entire evening was magnificent, with the wonderful music of the soloists, the excellent singing of the chorus and of course the exquisite playing of the orchestra. It was a master stroke to combine the Armidale Orchestra with the two previous separate entities of the Armidale Musical Society and the Armidale Drama Society.
Dr Bruce Menzies was, as usual, at his brilliant best as conductor.
As a past president, (many years ago) of the Armidale Musical Society, I was thrilled to see the results of the combined groups. In my opinion the performance on Saturday evening would rival any Australian or overseas production. Congratulations and well done!
