My local GP Dr Wes Allen has the science credentials to make comment – at least as much as Timothy Flannery (a Paleontologist). Nothwithstanding, Flannery is the darling of Labor and its supporters. We have heard many of his devastating statements that have not been supported by solid scientific observation. I recall vividly, one on the ABC’s Triple-J Radio a few years ago when Flannery was with Dr Karl and I heard Flannery say (due to Global Warming) we would have water lapping onto a ‘balcony on the seventh floor’. I distinctly recall it was prophesied for 2013. It was two years later that I spoke to Dr Karl on another ABC Talkback program about it; he denied the incident.

Maker”, Dr Allen criticises 100 dogmatic statements by Mr Flannery. For example ‘three out of every five species will not be with us at the dawn of the next century’. (G Coast Sun July 28). Flannery’s prediction about an ‘endless drought’ most likely influenced governments re- the provision of water; one example being desalination. And more seriously. the use of Wivenhoe in SE Queensland as a dam that ultimately led to the devastating flood in Brisbane early this year.
