Koala’s Plea

Kevin Koala clings to his tree.
Please help me!
A proposed new housing development
threatens my home.
Why can’t people leave well enough alone?
If only they’d have rules about such things.
Don’t they know koalas don’t have wings?
We can’t just fly away
Instinct makes us stay
In trees we know
It’s not easy for koalas to go
From place to place
We face
All sorts of problems on the ground
Especially with dogs around!
And cars on roads!
Oh home and abode
We love living here
But now we live in fear
It’s not fair
People – please care
Leave us be
Don’t you see
If people live here
We koalas will disappear
Unless you strategise
To minimise
Your impact
On our habitat
