A price on carbon emissions just makes sense. Regardless of whether you accept the science of climate change or not, what is so bad about reducing pollution? What is so wrong about making our world that little bit nicer to live in?
What putting a price on carbon emissions does is future-proof our country’s economy.
By encouraging us to move away from dependence on fossil fuels, which will run out sooner than you might think, we will still be able to keep working. If we do nothing now our power supplies will run out when the coal, oil and gas do.
We need to think long term and this is a good start. It will make jobs, will keep Australia running for centuries to come, and it will make our world a little bit nicer to live in.
