Julia and the Independents

To maintain her control on power, Julia had to agree to Andrew Wilkie’s demand to bring in legislation to curtail “problem” gamblers. Also, on the agenda is the effort to bring in plain cigarette packaging.
These two items have recently dominated the news to the exclusion of more important issues, such as the boat invaders that continue to come here in increasing numbers. The attempt to stitch up a deal with Malaysia has also dominated the media and many are voicing their disapproval with this agreement.
I wonder what would have happened if the “independent” Andrew Wilkie had insisted on a coronial enquiry into the events surrounding the Port Arthur massacre.
