For many, if not most Australian women, the feminist comments of the Prime Minister were welcome and long overdue. As a voter, it was great to see the Prime Minister on the offensive, not the defensive.
For at least a third of the population, these comments eclipse the Slipper matter and much other inter-party pettiness.
That the Opposition front bench just sat there and took it like guilty school children is just a bonus.
Moreover, as the Prime Minister has noted, Slipper was preselected by the Nationals and then Liberal Party from 1980. That they over looked his failings for so long is surely a greater issue.
For once, many great commentators have missed the historic significance of a moment in politics. It’s up there with Federation.
