In the recent Tweed Shire elections, Chris Cherry scored 445 primary votes, putting her in fourth place behind Kate Milne with 492 primary notes. Lindy Smith came fifth with 222 primary votes. Because they both stood as genuine independents, they have been denied a place in council. Something’s rotten in our voting system.
