In response

In reply to the letter from Brent James in your edition on October 3, the Member for Northern Tablelands Richard Torbay DID publicly oppose the cuts to education. In fact, a look at his website and news releases dated September 12 reveals a press release where Mr Torbay said there should not be a one size fits all model and there should be special consideration for rural and regional areas. Who was first to jump to the defence of Ashford, Emmaville and Bundarra schools and won a reprieve for their distance education model? Yes, Richard Torbay, doing what he has always done, representing his electorate. So Brent, good story, but not correct.

Mitch Faulkner,
Armidale
