As Founder and Chief Executive Offer of Youth Off The Streets, I would like to thank everyone who attended our Scholarship Dinner on Saturday the 10th of September. I would especially like to thank all of our scholarship sponsors for making these opportunities possible and Her Excellency Professor Marie Bashir AC CVO, Governor of NSW and Sir Nichola Shehadie AC OBE for their hospitality and presence at the presentation of scholarships to disadvantaged youth from across Australia.
This is always an inspirational occasion for us, as we celebrated the courage of all Australian youth. Young people across the country continue to inspire me with their resilience, with their hope and dreams in circumstances that try to pull them down and their sheer determination to make a difference in a world that has often turned its back on them. The achievements of the previous scholarship winners over the past 7 years has been amazing: we have young people who have become teachers, good parents, even an air force fighter pilot.
Thanks to a number of generous donators, this year we were able to give 22 scholarships worth $10,000 to 22 deserving, amazing and talented young people. At Government House on Saturday we were able to open a door that I hope will change their lives and create for their communities new role models that encompass hope, courage, determination and respect.
