At the next federal election, who will be the National Party candidate for New England?
As he hasn’t had a lot of luck lately, I wouldn’t wish to waste more grapeshot on Barnaby Joyce until he puts his head up.
I commend your correspondent Ron Roberts (9-11) for his insightful support of Tony Windsor.
Tony Windsor examined all the evidence in the carbon tax debate and made a decision based on where the preponderance of the evidence led him. This is what he was elected to do. So why is this sensible approach to policy formulation vilified by conservatives in Armidale?
The majority in Armidale have no live experience of carbon tax. The majority in New Zealand, Britain, California, British Columbia, New York State, Quebec and Delaware do. All are comfortable with carbon tax. Further, Tony Abbott is on record supporting carbon tax.
A year from now, Abbott’s rank opportunism will be on display for all to see and Tony Windsor will be vindicated.
Thank you for your contribution, Mr Roberts.
John Bergin,
Armidale
