Protection of rights

I find it amazing that Provest is staying silent when his government is deliberately and intentionally hurting the future of our children and the future of our hospitals. Mr Provest, who has complained since his election campaign in 2007 that local schools have not been receiving enough money, now supports in attacking teachers’ pay and conditions. Mr Provest, who has continually complained about the services offered by The Tweed Hospital and suggested that the Murwillumbah Hospital is about to close, is now supporting the attack on Nurses and Allied Health Workers who provide those very services.
No-one should doubt that what Mr Provest’s government is doing is not about limiting pay rises. His government is stripping away the right of any state government worker other than police to protect their rights through legal review. What Mr Provest’s government is doing is making themselves the sole arbiter of the working conditions of each Nurse who works in a Public Hospital, every Teacher in one of our schools, every Fire-fighter and Ambulance Officer. These people, who save our property from fire, help us when we are sick, and teach our children, are going to lose the right to protect their own rights in court and to ensure that they can keep providing the services that we need.
