Andrew Wilkie isn’t having a lot of success with his attempt to get legislation to curtail the antics of problem gamblers. The deal he stitched up with Empress Julia, to give her the Prime Ministership, is starting to fall apart.
Julia isn’t all that keen on curtailing the spending habits of gamblers. And why should she be? The government is the biggest beneficiary of the gambling industry by the massive amounts of money it gets via taxation.
If Julia goes back on her word and finds some clever way to stall off Wilkie and his pet project we should not be surprised.
It was the Empress that said there would never be a carbon tax by a government she would lead. Wilkie should have known that you can never trust her.
