I listened to ABC radio, with interest, to the Member for Coffs Harbour Andrew Fraser and felt quite disgusted with his attempt to shift the blame for the potential cost blow-out of the Pacific Highway duplications through the delays in the funding of the project.
This mantra seems to continually flow from the mouths of the National Party members on the Northern Rivers. It’s funny, I don’t seem to remember them even mentioning it when their own flavour of politics was in power federally. It appears, when it comes time to put their share of money up, they go missing.
This is where I think a great big thank you should be given to the Federal Member for Richmond, Justine Elliot. Justine, it seems, has just got on with it and delivered for the good of all residents living in the Northern Rivers. The Banora Point Bypass is now completed and, according to newspaper reports, almost entirely funded by the Federal Government. There were also the reports in the media of the commencement of the Tintenbar to Ewings-dale Bypass, again almost completely funded by the Federal Government. I for one am very grateful for what you have delivered, Mrs Elliot.
